Join the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia at local Barnes and Noble bookstores in celebrating Read Across America Day! All day on Saturday, March 1st at Barnes and Noble Clarendon and Sunday, March 2nd at Barnes and Noble Tysons Corner, proceeds from any purchases made by friends of the Council (with a voucher) will be donated back to our organization. All Literacy Council volunteers (particularly tutors and teachers), students, community partners, and friends are invited to join us for this fun weekend of reading and sharing. Books for beginning adult readers will be made available for students and tutors to purchase together.
Although Barnes and Noble will be accepting vouchers all day, local authors will be on hand at specific times to speak about their experiences, read from their latest works, and sign books. The schedule is as follows:
Saturday, March 1
Barnes and Noble Clarendon

Open and accepting LCNV vouchers from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
9:30 a.m.: Mary Quattlebaum - Mary is the author of 15 award winning children's books and writes frequently for The Washington Post.
10 a.m.: Lulu Delacre - Lulu is a bilingual author and illustrator of children's books.
Sunday, March 2
Barnes and Noble Tysons Corner

Open and accepting LCNV vouchers from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
2 p.m.: A'Lelia Bundles - A'Lelia is the author of On Her Own Ground, a critically-acclaimed biography of entrepreneur, philanthropist and social activist Madam C.J. Walker.
3:00 pm: Katy Kelly - Katy is the author of the popular Lucy Rose children's series.
IMPORTANT: For your purchases to count towards the Council, you must present a voucher to the cashier at the store you visit during the designated days. Vouchers are available at:
