Over the past five years, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation has contributed nearly $70,000 towards enhancing LCNV's mission of bringing hope, prosperity, and self sufficiency to the hard working adult learners of Northern Virginia. In addition, Bank of America invited LCNV to participate in the grand opening of its new branch in Centreville, where they recognized the work LCNV has been doing in the community for nearly 50 years. That event, held in a neighborhood with a growing need for adult literacy education, resulted in residents coming forward to volunteer and receive training to be LCNV tutors. This is exactly the kind of support that strengthens our community.
"The literacy skills delivered by LCNV help men and women across Northern Virginia build successful lives and provides opportunities for community engagement," said Bill Couper, Mid-Atlantic president, Bank of America. "In these challenging economic times, literacy compentency is a standard for all job-seekers and critical to all employers. Bank of America is proud to partner with LCNV to advance the life goals of all residents in our community."
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation is committed to creating meaningful change in the communities it serves through its philanthropic efforts, associate volunteerism, community development activities and investing, support of arts and culture programming and environmental initiatives. Working in partnership with community leaders, Bank of America's local market leadership directs the majority of its giving through local grants that address pressing social, economic, and cultural needs of communities across their global footprint.
