The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia has at one time or another supported all four of LCNV's beginning-level literacy and English language educational programs. Over the last eight years, The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia has provided more than $16,000 in support to Literacy Council.
"We are proud to support an organization so committed to the literacy of our community," says The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia Vice President, Sara Jaffe. "Working one on one with adults, LCVN empowers our community to participate fully and confidently at the most basic levels. The entire community benefits from the impact of its programs." The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia is a tax exempt organization that maintains an array of charitable funds established by individuals and corporations. With a diverse board of directors, the Foundation awards grants to area nonprofits in five different categories: child and youth development, poverty relief, health, education, and military personnel and their families. The foundation was created in 1978 by the late Maynard DeWitt. |
