The Walmart Foundation joined LCNV as a new partner during Fiscal Year 2010, to support LCNV's focus on workforce development, job skills training and economic opportunity for its adult learners. LCNV learners test at the lowest literacy skill levels and at the very beginning English language skill levels, meaning that they cannot read or write beyond the fifth-grade level. These students are not eligible for the advanced language or GED classes offered by public school systems and would be left behind without LCNV's services.
The Walmart Foundation strives to provide opportunities that improve the lives of individuals in our communities including our customers and associates. Through financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteerism, The Walmart Foundation supports initiatives focused on enhancing opportunities in four main focus areas: Education, Workforce Development and Economic Opportunity, Environmental Sustainability and Health and Wellness. In all of its giving efforts, The Walmart Foundation strives to meet the unmet needs of underserved populations and support organizations that give individuals access to a better life. |
