Toward the end of last calendar year, LCNV's program staff came up with a number of ideas for projects that would help give students a clearer picture of the progress they make over the course of their studies with the Literacy Council. The first project completed was the issuance of student ID cards to facilitate registration and encourage a sense of belonging to the organization. Each LCNV student enrolled in either ESOL or Family learning classes now has an ID card with her name, a unique ID number, and the Literacy Council's logo, website address, and phone number.
Another project was the creation of student report cards, which are handed out at graduations. The reports cards allow students to see their attendance as well as their test scores from post testing. In the future, report cards will also include numbers representing hours spent doing homework, attending LCNV's supplemental programs, and completing other extracurricular activities throughout the session. Student response has been very positive. They are encouraged by seeing proof of their hard work and dedication.
