Held every March, Reading: A Family Affair is the Literacy Council's free, annual, family-friendly outreach event. The day features some of the area's best performers, children's book authors, musicians, storytellers, and more. The next Reading: A Family Affair is scheduled to be held at the James Lee Community Center in Falls Church on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

Join LCNV and its Connections for Hope partners on Saturday, May 21, 2011, for our first annual Walk for Hope, a fundraising walkathon beginning at Connections for Hope at 13525 Dulles Technology Drive, Herndon, Virginia, 20171.
JUNE
LCNV's 49th Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, from 7 - 9 pm. This event highlighted the outstanding achievements of LCNV adult learners, who read their award-winning essays, and the enormous contributions made by LCNV volunteers and community partners. This year's theme was "My Journey to Here," with a keynote address from Ki Ho Kang, President and CEO of KIHOMAC. Mr. Kang was born in Seoul, Korea and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1978, settling in Baltimore, MD. The audience was inspired by his story and the successes of LCNV's learners and volunteers!
OCTOBER
The Literacy Council of Northern Virginia participated in Acumen Solutions 3rd Annual Race for a CauseTM 8K and 1Mile Fun Run race on Sunday, October 16, 2011 in Arlington, Virginia. As one of ten charities benefitting from the race, LCNV came in seventh place with 220 supporters. The organization received an $8,125 award! The Literacy Council would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who ran and registered to support LCNV’S cause.
NOVEMBER
Give to the Max Day: Greater Washington
The Literacy Council of Northern Virginia would like to thank everyone who supported the organization on Give to the Max Day, and contributed to the LCNV Scholarship and Advancement Fund. Give to the Max Day, which took place November 9th, 2011, was a one-day fundraising event that united local Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC communities to support nonprofits serving the area. LCNV, alongside hundreds of nonprofits, competed for cash awards and matching grants offered throughout the day. Again, thank you so much for your supporting an adult who has come forward to learn.
