The Basic Literacy Tutoring Program works with adults who can speak and understand English, but need help with reading and writing. The student and teacher meet on a one-to-one basis once or twice a week for about an hour and a half each time. They meet in a library, community center, or other public place that is convenient to both of them. There is a one-time registration fee, which includes the cost of the student’s first set of books.
For more information or to register, call the Literacy Council (703) 237-0866.
The summer 2010 issue of LCNV's newsletter, Literacy Lines, is now available online.
